Falic Group – parent company of Duty Free Americas – will acquire DFS’s luxury travel retail business at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi.
Following the acquisition, Duty Free Americas plans to strengthen its position in the Middle East luxury market and use the business as a platform for further expansion across the region and in Africa.
The buyout includes DFS’s retail concessions at the airport, spanning luxury and contemporary fashion, watches and jewellery, and sunglasses.
“Duty Free Americas and Abu Dhabi Airports share an ambitious vision to further develop and elevate the luxury travel retail offering together,” said President Leon Falic.
“Plans include the introduction of new flagship brands, expanded footprints for existing top-performing retailers, and innovative open-air retail spaces designed to create a more flexible passenger experience and drive conversion.”
The transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter.
