Majid AI Futtaim, an Emirati-owned lifestyle conglomerate, has become one of the UAE’s first companies to enable Jaywan card acceptance across over 200 of its destinations.
Customers can now pay via Jaywan cards throughout the group’s physical retail, leisure, hotel, and entertainment network, backed by its acquiring partnership with Network International.
The initiative reflects Majid AI Futtaim’s commitment to advancing the country’s vision of having a “resilient, sovereign and future-ready payments ecosystem”, while delivering a locally relevant experience for consumers.
Darren Taylor, senior VP, Share Rewards and customer solutions, Majid Al Futtaim, said, “Our priority is to make every interaction with Majid Al Futtaim simple, intuitive, and rewarding.”
He added that Jaywan’s acceptance not only strengthens the group’s payment infrastructure by reducing transaction costs and accelerating domestic payment settlements, but also meets customers’ evolving needs for a seamless checkout experience and greater payment flexibility.
Jaywan is the UAE’s domestic card scheme, launched by Al Etihad Payments (AEP) to localise the country’s payment infrastructure, strengthen national financial sovereignty, and support the growth of the UAE’s digital economy.
“Merchant acceptance is where a card scheme becomes real for customers,” said Andrea Cianchetti, chief products officer at AEP. “Majid Al Futtaim operates some of the UAE’s most visited destinations, bringing Jaywan into more of the everyday payment experiences of customers across the country.”
“Our focus is on continuing to expand acceptance across the ecosystem with more merchants, more issuers and more everyday transactions,” Cianchetti concluded.
As part of such ongoing nationwide expansion, Jaywan cards are being rolled out in phases through participating financial institutions.
Acceptance across Majid Al Futtaim’s digital platforms will be introduced in due course, with further payment options for online shoppers.
