Fast fashion retailer Primark is accelerating its expansion in the UAE after a record-breaking debut at Dubai Mall, which drew more than 35,000 shoppers over its opening weekend, Arabian Business reports.
John Hadden, CEO of Alshaya Group, which operates Primark in the UAE, said the strong foot traffic translated into around 400,000 items sold.
“We know shoppers are loving the value on offer and the experience provided by our fantastic team,” Hadden said.
The CEO confirmed the group is preparing to launch another Primark store at City Centre Mirdif “very soon” and the Mall of the Emirates in May.
Later this year, additional stores are set to open in City Centre, Bahrain, and Doha Festival City in Qatar.
“This is just the beginning as we work with Primark to grow the brand, after such a fantastic first opening,” added Hadden.
Established in 1969 in Dublin, Ireland, Primark operates more than 475 stores in 18 countries across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and the US.
